18U Monday Recap

July 12, 2016

Today marked the first day of the inaugural USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship in Kansas City. Day 1 has started here at Blue Valley Sports Complex. 54 teams traveling all across the country are ready to begin their experience here at USA Elite Select World Series Championship. Diving catches, home runs, and victories have been celebrated today. "It's not about winning, it's the experiences, but winning helps." This coach was right, the talent level that has been brought to this tournament is outstanding and it is not about winning it is about learning and competition and community.

"I started playing softball because my dad put together a little league team, and now I am excited to start my college softball career after this summer." (Avery Texas Glory) "I am also excited to play against many girls I will be facing in college. That is what is so cool about this tournament because it brings athletes from around the country together to play the best." Many of these girls are in the same position and are ready to show their talents off this week.

Already today in the exhibition games there were many diving plays and home runs and more importantly team work. These girls have worked all year long to get to this tournament and are excited to see what the week has in store for them. Do not forget to keep looking back here for daily recaps of the 18u games.
