Say hello to the Final Four 18U squads at the 2017 USA Elite Select World Fastpitch Championship!

OC Batbusters – Stith, the raining 18U Champions are equipped with a lot of depth in the circle and solid offense through the entire lineup.  Despite having lost several key players last year, the squad is still equipped with DI commits from UCLA to Florida, so it comes as no surprise that OCBB-Stith is back in the final four again this year.  “After losing the four seniors it has really taken some time to readjust, learn and get comfortable with our roles, but the girls have really become a team and owning what they are doing, and it’s real satisfying to see,” says head coach Mike Stith.  “Still lots of work to do but they are playing well right now.”  Batbusters head into the championship bracket 6-1-0 on the tournament after winning their way through the USSSA Pride bracket.  Stith – undefeated in bracket play has scored a total of 59 runs on the tournament through the last 7 games.  They kicked off bracket play on Thursday with an 11-4 win over Original’s – KC in preparation for what would be a three-game Friday.  Batbusters turned out a 7-1 win over TNT National before defeating Tulsa Elite Jacks 11-0 and eventually seeing Oklahoma Athletics 18 Gold Madden who advanced from the loser’s bracket for a match-up resulting in a 9-1 win.  Stith and his OC Batbusters play again this afternoon (Saturday, July 15) as they meet Marucci Patriots Gold at 12:30pm at Shawnee Mission School District.

The Chicago Bandits bracket saw three OC Batbusters teams, but only Clay Lara and his Batbusters are headed to the final four.  The key to this Batbuster squad? Consistency and perseverance.  Batbusters quickly found themselves in the losers bracket after starting their run with a 9-5 loss against Southeast Intensity on Thursday.  Friday saw a better team as it turned into SEVEN rounds of knockout for the Batbusters. The stretch began with a 7-0 win over Southern Shockers 18 Gold, a 9-7 win over KC Monarchs Gold, and a 3-2 win over TX Threat Gold. The next two victories were a result of seeing fellow Batbusters teams in Cervellin and Gomes Dennis.  The match-ups ended in 2-0 and 4-1 victories respectively for Lara and his squad. Well, if the first 5 games weren’t enough to convince you of the caliber of fight of this Batbusters team, the next two match-ups may have. The streak continued as they went on to defeat Indiana Prospects Norwood in a nail biting 5-4 win, forced the IF game, and propelled into the Championship bracket with yet another 5-4 victory.  Look out for this team today as Lara and his Batbusters begin the fight for a World Champion title at 12:30pm today (Saturday, July 15) against Georgia Impact Premier – Lewis at Shawnee Mission School District.

Marucci Patriots Gold began their run through the Texas Charge Bracket with a 1-0 win over Texas Bombers HTX Gold on Wednesday before chalking up another W on Thursday over Texas Bombers Gold Elite (6-2).  Friday saw wins over Atlanta Vipers Palazzo Gold (4-0) and Team Mizuno Impuse (3-0) before seeing Mizuno Impulse twice more to determine a winner.  Patriots, victorious in all but one game against Mizuno, came out on top for a chance to compete for the title in the Championship Bracket.  “We have played well this week, and this team is starting to gel and come together at the right time.  Each player on this team has contributed in some way this week with timely hits and great defense.  Our pitching staff has been consistent and they complement each other very well also,” says Head Coach Darrell Landry.  “We really enjoy this event, and the people involved with organizing it. We are excited to represent Louisiana and Marucci Softball again in the final four.”  Landry and his Patriots will face Mike Stith and his OC Batbusters today (Saturday, July 15) at 12:30pm at Shawnee Mission School District.

Georgia Impact Premier enters the Championship Bracket 7-1 in the tournament with 72 runs scored.  Impact began their run through the Akron Racers Bracket on Thursday with a 12-3 win over NW Batbusters – Seek before defeating Impact Gold DFW – Carpenter 8-0.  Friday night was a long one for the squad as they got knocked out of the winners bracket after Atlanta Vipers – Vallery came out victorious in their match-up earlier in the day.  No problem for Impact as they propelled past Originals Self 13-2 and found themselves back on the diamond with Atlanta Vipers – Vallery.  This time Impact would come out on top 4-1 and force yet another face-off this morning.  Georgia Impact Premier behind Lewis defeated ATL Vipers – Vallery 8-5 and fo
